MEET THE PASHMANNS

Hi, we’re Marisa and Sean — the couple behind The Pashmann Passport.

Marisa & Sean at Mesa Arch, Canyonlands, UT

We’re two Colorado explorers with a love for national parks, long road trips, and traveling with our three pups, Lefty, Buckwheat, and Mikko. What started as weekend escapes quickly grew into a shared mission: to experience as much of the natural world as we can, together.

Our Story Begins With A First Date Adventure Bucket List

Before we ever met, both of us were already adventuring in our home states of California and Alaska, chasing scenic overlooks, and dreaming of the places we’d see someday.

On our first date, we talked about creating an adventure list since we were both new to the area. We immediately filled our dates with hikes, trying new restaurants, and any outdoor activity we could find time for. Very quickly, we both got onboard with the goal to see every National Park in the United States together. After that, it didn’t take us long (just shy of two months) to get to our first together – Rocky Mountain!

After that trip, the parks became the backdrop of our relationship. From sandstone arches and snowy mountain passes to desert sunrises and foggy forests, each trip has shaped who we are and how we see the world.

Our 11 year old pit mix is our sensitive boy. Marisa adopted him when he was 6 years old. He unfortunately had a rough start in an abusive household followed by a year of foster care. Because of this, he has some reactive tendencies and requires a little extra care when planning adventures. He has come such a long way and has shown us his goofy personality, love for adventures (within reason), and the importance of a good snuggle and nap.

Our 5 year old golden retriever is our happy-go-lucky sweetheart. Sean adopted him when he was just a puppy as a gift to himself for graduating college. He loves everyone and everything he meets (especially tennis balls) and is always down for a fun adventure. Whether it’s camping, hiking, fishing, or skating, you can count on Buck to be ready to go. We never have to worry with him- he can join us for everything with a big ol’ smile on his face.

Our 2 year old collie mix is our chaos queen. We adopted her when she was just a few months old. She also had a rough start, having been rescued with her siblings in Texas after being left in a box in the rain on the side of the highway. She can sometimes show signs of leash reactivity, but she is a very sweet and loving girl who has more energy than the rest of the family combined. This girl loves to run and adventure with us.

Travel grounds us. It helps us feel connected – to ourselves, to each other, and to the landscapes around us. Whether we’re standing at the edge of a canyon or wandering small mountain towns, we believe adventure doesn’t have to be grand to be meaningful. Sometimes the best stories come from spontaneous detours, muddy boots, and moments of stillness you never planned for.

Our years together have been spent coming up with the most jam-packed roadtrips we can manage and adventuring around this beautiful state with our three pups. We’ve learned a lot about adventuring with dogs, especially since we have a variety of personalities with our pups – one reactive, one leash reactive, and one who loves everyone and everything. It definitely makes things a little more challenging and requires a little extra planning to ensure that everyone’s needs are met.

The Pashmann Passport grows from a simple desire to document our journey; we want to have a place to keep our road trip itineraries, travel photography, local adventures, and more in one place.

This blog is our digital scrapbook, but it’s also a resource for travelers like you who love the outdoors, crave honest travel insight, maybe need some tips for traveling with reactive dogs, and appreciate a good overlook (or three).

We’d love for you to stick around — explore our destinations, read our latest posts, or gather some tips and tricks for adventuring with pups. Whether you’re planning your own trip or simply daydreaming from home, we’re so glad you’re here. 💛
